I love Ginza because...

I love Ginza because there are many long
established stores. I often purchase ties,
shirts, shoes in such stores. They are
a little bit expensive but have excellent
quality, so that cost performance is nice.

Today I visited "Chikuyo-Tei" eel and Japanese
cuisine restaurant, where was established
in 1877, to have fish boiled in sweet broth.
Since I am good at cooking Italian dishes
but not at Japanese cuisine, I want to taste
the well established one to tongue learn.

Anyway, why specialties served by long
established stores are more expensive
than popular products? High quality is
one of the reasons, but I think securing
reasonable profit is critical.

Reasonable profit is essential for not only
prospering with business partners but also
attracting descendants to continue business.
Owners of long established stores have duty
to serve their specialties to clients over ages.

I love Ginza because there are continuing
business passion to delight customers.

Hi Tacky!

It is vey interesting article.

Got questions.

How do they maintain their profits?
What is optimal gross profit level?
What is their marketing mix?

Hello Jeffrey!

> How do they maintain their profits?
They have long history,
so that they must have priced up several times.
(Japanese average salary in 1965 was 20000 yen
and now is 200000 yen.)
But why they could price up? I think there were
customers' trust for quality and brand.
To keep them, price up was valid.
It is reason to maintain their profits.

I think it depends on business. But if you want to know,
I can introduce you to a biz-owner of tailoring suits in Ginza.
FYI, his company's suit is 200000 yen in minimum.
